Short Biography
Born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, in 1993, Jeannyffer Campos is an architect, cultural manager, and violinist whose formation spans Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia.
Her journey began far from privilege. The daughter of a metal craftsman and young parents without formal higher education, she grew up in a humble corrugated-tin house on the outskirts of Guatemala City, where perseverance and creativity shaped her identity. At the age of four, she taught herself to read and write—an achievement that led to her being featured in a local newspaper. Recognized early for her academic potential, she was awarded scholarships at the age of seven from the Centro Educativo Rotario Benito Juárez and the Asociación Becaria Guatemalteca, the latter becoming paramount throughout her career, providing the support that made her continued education possible. As the first in her family to complete both high school and university, she opened a new path of opportunity and transformation.
Drawn to the arts from an early age, Jeannyffer discovered the violin at twelve, finding in it a language that expressed her sensitivity and creative drive. Guided by her artistic nature, she performed in more than 120 concerts across Guatemala, bringing music to marginalized communities and to national stages such as the Teatro Nacional Miguel Ángel Asturias. She also participated in cultural exchanges throughout Central America and the United States, using music as a bridge between cultures.
At fourteen, she was appointed Magistrate of Guatemala’s First Children’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal, demonstrating from an early age her commitment to civic engagement and the importance of giving voice to others. A year later, she received the United World Colleges Scholarship, completing her International Baccalaureate at UWC South East Asia (Singapore) after having already earned her high-school diploma in Guatemala. In Singapore, she continued her musical journey, performing as a violinist in world-renowned venues such as the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
Her academic path continued in the United States, where she earned a full scholarship to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, to study Fine Arts and Architecture. There, she created her own interdisciplinary major focused on Sustainable Architecture and Studio Art, reflecting her conviction that design must balance creativity, ecology, and identity. She also participated in international youth programs such as the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU), receiving a Leadership Scholarship for her commitment to social impact, and later attended Social Impact, Massachusetts (USA)—a convention for young cultural and social innovators fostering collaboration, empathy, and global citizenship. Following these achievements, she received the “Más Allá del Deber” Award from the Mayor of Guatemala City, a national recognition for leadership and community initiatives.
Jeannyffer graduated with double majors, later earning several prestigious scholarships and fellowships, including the AAUW International Fellowship (Washington D.C., USA, 2019), the Asociación Becaria Guatemalteca, and the C. Harold Wirum Scholarship (Minnesota, USA, 2017). These awards supported her Master’s studies in Architecture at the University of Washington (Seattle, USA) and later in England, at Falmouth University (Cornwall, United Kingdom), where she specialized in Regional Architecture and explored the dialogue between vernacular and contemporary design within a European context.
Most recently, she was admitted to the prestigious YACademy program in Bologna, Italy, where she completed a Master’s in Wood Architecture. There, she collaborated with renowned firms and was taught by leading architects including Lars Almgren (Dorte Mandrup), Boschi Sanada (Kengo Kuma), Patrick Lüth (Snøhetta), and Michele De Lucchi (AMDL CIRCLE), among others. She also collaborated with David Chipperfield Architects (Milan) on the refurbishment of Fornace Brioni Brickworks in Italy—an experience that deepened her engagement with sustainability, craftsmanship, and local cultural identity in design.
She currently serves as the lead designer and cultural manager of Maderas Guauhitemala (Guatemala), a design initiative that reinterprets local materiality and artisanal knowledge through contemporary architecture and objects. Through this platform, she works to strengthen Guatemalan cultural identity and promote sustainable, community-based design rooted in craft and territory.

Nacida en Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala, en 1993, Jeannyffer Campos es arquitecta, gestora cultural y violinista, cuya formación profesional abarca América Latina, América del Norte, Europa y Asia.
Su trayectoria comenzó lejos del privilegio. Hija de un artesano metalúrgico y de padres jóvenes sin educación universitaria, creció en una humilde casa de lámina en las afueras de Ciudad de Guatemala, donde la perseverancia y la creatividad moldearon su identidad. A los cuatro años aprendió a leer y escribir—un logro que la llevó a ser destacada en un periódico local. Reconocida desde temprana edad por su potencial académico, obtuvo becas a los siete años del Centro Educativo Rotario Benito Juárez y de la Asociación Becaria Guatemalteca, esta última resultando determinante a lo largo de toda su carrera, al brindarle el apoyo que hizo posible su continuidad educativa. Como la primera en su familia en completar tanto la educación secundaria como universitaria, abrió un nuevo camino de oportunidad y transformación.
Atraída por las artes desde temprana edad, Jeannyffer descubrió el violín a los doce años, encontrando en él un lenguaje que expresaba su sensibilidad y búsqueda creativa. Guiada por su naturaleza artística, participó en más de 120 conciertos en Guatemala, por medio de la Orquesta Juvenil Municipal, llevando la música a comunidades marginadas y a escenarios nacionales como el Teatro Nacional Miguel Ángel Asturias. También fue seleccionada para participar en intercambios culturales en Centroamérica y los Estados Unidos, utilizando la música como un puente entre culturas.
A los catorce años fue nombrada Magistrada del Primer Tribunal Supremo Electoral Infantil de Guatemala, demostrando desde joven su compromiso con la participación cívica y la importancia de dar voz a los demás. Un año después, obtuvo la Beca de los Colegios del Mundo Unido (United World Colleges) y completó el Bachillerato Internacional en el UWC South East Asia (Singapur), tras haber concluido previamente el bachillerato en Guatemala. En Singapur continuó su trayectoria musical, interpretando como violinista en escenarios de prestigio mundial como el Esplanade.
Su formación académica continuó en los Estados Unidos, donde obtuvo una beca completa en el St. Olaf College de Northfield, Minnesota, para estudiar una licenciatura en las Bellas Artes y Arquitectura. Allí creó su propio programa interdisciplinario enfocado en Arquitectura Sostenible y Arte, reflejando su convicción de que el diseño debe equilibrar creatividad, ecología e identidad. También participó en programas internacionales de liderazgo juvenil, como el Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU), (Miami, EE. UU.), recibiendo una beca de liderazgo por su compromiso con el impacto social, y más tarde asistió a Social Impact, (Massachusetts, EE. UU.), una convención para jóvenes creadores de proyectos culturales y sociales que fomentaba la colaboración, la empatía y la ciudadanía global. Tras estos logros, recibió el Premio “Más Allá del Deber” otorgado por el Alcalde Alvaro Arzú de la Ciudad de Guatemala, en reconocimiento a su liderazgo y trabajo comunitario.
Jeannyffer se graduó con doble especialización y posteriormente recibió diversas becas y distinciones internacionales, entre ellas la Beca Internacional AAUW (Washington D. C., EE. UU., 2019), la Asociación Becaria Guatemalteca, y la C. Harold Wirum Scholarship (Minnesota, EE. UU., 2017). Estos reconocimientos respaldaron sus estudios de maestría en Arquitectura en la Universidad de Washington (Seattle, EE. UU.) y, posteriormente, en Inglaterra, en la Universidad de Falmouth (Cornwall, Reino Unido), donde se especializó en Arquitectura Regional y en el diálogo entre la arquitectura vernácula y la contemporánea dentro de un contexto europeo.
Más recientemente, fue admitida en el prestigioso programa YACademy en Bolonia, Italia, donde completó una maestría en Arquitectura en Madera. Allí colaboró con firmas reconocidas y fue formada por destacados arquitectos como Lars Almgren (Dorte Mandrup), Boschi Sanada (Kengo Kuma), Patrick Lüth (Snøhetta) y Michele De Lucchi (AMDL CIRCLE), entre otros. También trabajó con David Chipperfield Architects (Milán) en la rehabilitación de Fornace Brioni Brickworks en Italia, una experiencia que profundizó su compromiso con la sostenibilidad, la artesanía y la identidad cultural local en el diseño.
Actualmente se desempeña como diseñadora principal y gestora cultural de Maderas Guauhitemala (Guatemala), una iniciativa que reinterpreta la materialidad local y el saber artesanal a través de la arquitectura y el diseño contemporáneo. Desde esta plataforma, trabaja para fortalecer la identidad cultural guatemalteca y promover un diseño sostenible y comunitario, arraigado en el territorio y en los oficios tradicionales.
